As a naturopathic physician, I see each patient as an individual, on a healing journey that is uniquely their own.
My Clinical Focus
General Naturopathic Practice
Naturopathic medicine can help with a wide variety of conditions. I have a special interest in the following areas:
Stress and stress-related concerns: including fatigue, digestive issues, and mental health
Immune-related conditions: including autoimmune conditions (such as thyroid conditions, celiac disease, IBD, RA, Lupus, etc.), seasonal allergies, food sensitivities, and all other types of immune dysregulation
Cardiometabolic health: including blood pressure management, cholesterol health, diabetes, and weight management
Women’s health: including hormone imbalances, menstrual irregularities, vaginal infections, cervical dysplasia, birth control, PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, and UTIs
Perimenopause and menopause: including hot flashes, sleep disturbances, fatigue, weight gain, loss of bone density, moods swings, and loss of libido
Longevity and healthy aging
Naturopathic Cancer Care
A cancer diagnosis is often all-consuming, leaving both the individual and their family feeling unmoored. It is both a mental and emotional challenge, as well as a physical one. Naturopathic cancer care can help improve quality of life and manage side effects without interfering with conventional treatments.
Naturopathic cancer care is not an alternative to conventional treatments. Patients will always be encouraged to pursue and maintain conventional care.
Services
Naturopathic physicians have a wide scope of practice.
As a patient, you may find yourself gravitating toward certain approaches more than others. The beauty of naturopathic medicine is that it offers us many possible paths that all lead to the same destination of better health.
Laboratory Testing
Lab testing can be a crucial part of your plan, providing insight into the underlying physiological processes that may be occurring and allowing us to monitor treatment progress. In addition to basic conventional lab tests, I offer an array of salivary, blood, urinary, and skin tests.
Orthomolecular Medicine
Nutritional supplementation of vitamins, minerals, and micro nutrients to deliver concentrated doses that are difficult to achieve through diet alone. Specific dosages of nutrients have well-documented beneficial effects in many conditions.
Lifestyle and Nutritional Counseling
This is the foundation for long lasting health. Diet, sleep, exercise, and stress management are crucial pillars for preventing and reversing disease. I will meet you where you are - whether you are just getting started or you need help fine tuning your practices.
Pharmaceutical Medicine
Pharmaceutical drugs are effective and necessary in certain cases. Being certified in pharmaceutical prescribing, I am able to monitor, adjust, and refill your prescriptions.
Botanical Medicine
Plants can be used to address multifaceted issues. They are powerful. In fact, many modern drugs were originally derived from isolated plant compounds. Herbal medicine can be administered in the form of teas, liquid tinctures, in capsules, or as topical preparations.
Injection Therapies
In times of higher need, intramuscular (IM) and intravenous (IV) injections allow for the delivery of much higher doses of vitamins and minerals to the body than can be achieved with oral administration. Like everything else, these injections are tailored to individual needs.
Cosmetic Neuromodulators
Cosmetic neuromodulator injections are a novel therapeutic treatment to temporarily relax facial muscles in order to achieve a smoother appearance. The goal is to preserve facial expressions to create a natural, rejuvenated look.
What to Expect as a Patient
1st Appointment - Initial Intake
This is your comprehensive assessment. I spend an hour with you going through your personal and medical history in order to get a thorough understanding of all that led you to where you are today. We also go over your health goals and talk through the ways we can achieve those targets; this is the start of the formulation of your personalized health plan. You will get a clear sense of the treatments options are available to you, the associated benefits and risks, and the approximate timeline to both partial and complete results.
Advanced Testing
If necessary, we will pursue blood, salivary, urinary, or other types of testing after your initial appointment to determine what could be contributing to your health condition. Advanced testing provides detailed information that can focus our treatment efforts and shorten the duration of your treatment timeframe.
2nd Appointment - Follow-Up
At your follow-up, usually around 2-4 weeks after your initial appointment, we evaluate your initial response to your treatment plan. If advanced testing has been pursued, this is when we would also review those results and make any necessary adjustments to your care. The follow-up appointment is an opportunity for us to address any additional concerns you may have, any questions that may have arisen since the initial visit, and what to expect moving forward.
Ongoing Support
As you progress through your customized health plan, we will track outcomes to ensure that we are working toward your goals appropriately. The frequency of your check-ins is totally dependent on your individual needs!
